As the temperatures drop below 70 degrees at night and as I search for my sweatshirts I remember about the plants that I need to bring in.
I had been very very careful not to collect these yet, I end up with plants that need to bring come inside. I just have one window that faces East that gives them the much needed sunshine.
One of the plants that I bring in is the Holy Tulasi. We do not cook like the Italians but just use it as an offering for our Lord during our prayers. So there is a sentimental aspect attached to these plants. When we started growing them, they died within a month of coming inside. But later they started surviving a bit. Then one year, I found them to proliferate into other pots. I also noticed even without care, I saw the reseeding and germinating.
Last year, I kept two outside and bought one inside. All plants died, but when spring rolled I saw the seeds germinating into sprouts in all the pots. Yes, both inside and outside pots germinated.

I learnt there are two varieties of the Holy Basil, one called Krishna Tulasi and the other Rama Tulasi and I think I have the one that spreads fast, the Rama Tulasi and it supposed to be a wild one. It has strong odor too. I have heard Krishna Tulasi is much more favored for Lord Krishna.
But in Bhagavad Gita Krishna says I am happy “If you offer me a flower, a leaf, a fruit or even water with pure mind and devotion, I accept.” So yes, I am not going to confuse myself what kind of basil this is and worry about it. I have been having this kind for more than five years and enjoy it’s strong smell.
Anyway this year, I am going to let it run it’s course and leave all the pots outside and make Mother Nature do Her work during spring. I am not going to worry bringing the plants in.

I was trying to take a picture for Cee’s Flower of the Day Post and was surprised to see the flowers becoming dry already. Those are the ones going to be my new plants for next year.
