Thinking out loud

How are you feeling right now?

Sunday night for a wordpress prompt I committed myself saying I would be cooking with my boy every day for the next day ten days. Five days done, and I would say my boy has cooked something with me every day. This week was not great. I would say he was what teachers call “being on the edge”. Usually those times, nothing get done. But my obsession to my challenge helped my special one. He did really good and some things he learnt were to chop vegetables and wash them. We are in the habit of washing hands before cooking and I see him getting fluent around. He also packed his Dad’s and his own lunch box and this was a completely new task for him.

I am now pushing myself to make this challenge for 3 weeks, since there are more recipes and tasks he can learn. Once he is done, I plan to give him some break and push certain tasks on to him.

Now you get it, I am thinking out loud. So if he cooks completely one day, he gets a break the next and the day after he chops vegetables. Cooking is not the only task he does so this would work out. I can see his wrists not working properly and his proprioceptive exercises have to be improved. That includes lots of weight activities for his wrists and hand writing practice.

My husband has been supportive but my boy is not listening to him yet. I need to push Dad and son bonding a bit more in the kitchen 😊.

I have been posting everything on his facebook page as reels, I really am not interested in making this as a task since I am loosing concentration while teaching him. The goal gets distracted. But it is acting like my answer sheet and my boy can watch his cooking too.

I should say my feeling as of now is satisfaction. 😊

Just noticed it is September first. New month and I am exhibiting satisfaction 😃.

Here is today’s facebook reel.

  1. It sounds like your doing a great job teaching him. I have similar issues with my oldest. She took a class in school for special needs kids to learn things that we take for granted. Like washing vegys, or counting change or even cleaning. What comes naturally for us does not for them. I wish you the best ♥️
