What do you love about where you live?
To raise a special child, environment is very important. It is more than inside the four walls of the house.
We have created an atmosphere that my special boy thrives. But we are blessed to live in a community that accepts my son. He is accepted at our Community center and we have lot of programs that target special needs. I say that is a privilege and I am grateful for that.
My son is a young adult now. We moved when he was a teen. We got a house that could satisfy his hyper activity but as he grows the house though fifty years old with it’s yard provides a lot of learning opportunity for him.
Community is a huge part of any special needs parent. Being a caretaker is not easy. A smile exhibited by a neighbor to a program run by a non profit for special needs helps the parent.

My younger one is now in college and school district doesn’t matter for us anymore. But we are comfortable now in this place. If I can move my laundry to the second floor I love everything about my house and the community I live in.😊
