A phobia

One of the best things we do as a family is visit zoos. It is a great place to spend time as a family and learn new things. My special one loves to pet the animals at the petting zoo and feed them too.

But the one thing that I am scared of in a zoo are the snakes. In fact I am scared of any kind of reptile and over the years I am not even comfortable being near the snake exhibit.

We went to the zoo today and my legs were shaking near the exhibit and I had to literally move from that place.

So I had to google about it and it seems it is a very common phobia called ophidiophobia and one in three people have it. I also learnt it is closely associated with the fear of reptiles called herpetophobia. I really felt relieved since I am not on the only one in this planet. Now, this fear I am not going to fight to get rid of it. I plan on accepting it. We also walk on trails and I have seen a snake or two but not the poisonous kind and I have screamed but I have continued walking the same trails. To think of it, the zoo snakes are making me more nervous 😬 .

Today I was teased so much I had to show my family I am not a scary girl and exhibited some bravery and here is a picture to prove that. I grew up with cats, so when I see a tiger or a lion I remember the cats we had and this came naturally to me.😊
