The story of a Swamp Rose Mallow

When we bought our house 12 years ago, we just had one light Swamp rose mallow or hibiscus plant. Just this white pink one.

Then few years down the line, we were surprised to see these dark pink ones. A busy bee had pollinated from our neighbors.

Then at a fund raiser a few years later I got this one for three dollars, a tiny plant. These grew strong and we had a dark pink one. A new color was added to the lot.

This year we noticed we had another color. DNA testing needs to be done to see which combo of plants gave us these colors. But I do not care about it’s origin of these beauties since they do not need much care and are perennial. In fact we have had very less rain and we do not water them. Yet, they are in full bloom!

For Cee’s Flower of the Day!
