A flea market treasure?

When you are married for nearly three decades and are running a household you can definitely do some flea market shopping inside your home.

The past week has been me hitting some stores and window shopping some furniture! I really do not need anything but I wanted to get something. Looks confusing but that was my mindset!

I finally picked a plastic box to store some of my albums! Remember those bulky books that we used to save our printed photos before the era of cloud and sky storage? I hit myself onto a small side table. A huge printer was sitting on top of it! I remember getting the printer for my younger son during his high school (a good part he spent at home because of the pandemic)! The table and the printer had really lost their purpose!

I took the printer out and placed it on a better shelf. Then moved the side table to the middle of the room. My husband screwed it’s leg and we both cleaned the same.

I clearly remember the day I purchased the table. It was at a shop called Ames in Boston twenty five years ago. I spent twenty dollars for the same. It was one of the best deals we got that day.

Now, I can call it a rustic old piece quarter century old. Isn’t that find a good deal.

I immediately placed an artificial plant on top and my husband placed his speaker there. The desk looked as if it was smiling at me 😀! The room got a different appearance!

I think I have to do shopping 🛍️ more inside my home. I may find more treasures.

  1. I love this! Shopping inside your own home is the best kind of retail therapy. What a wonderful story—that little table has been with you for 25 years, from a Boston bargain to holding a pandemic printer, and now it’s smiling again with a plant and a speaker. You’re right, there are treasures everywhere if we just look. Happy hunting for your next rediscovery👍🏻🌷🤝

  2. What a delightful and heartwarming reflection! I love how you’ve turned an ordinary moment of rearranging into a beautiful reminder that treasures often already live within our homes—and our memories. Your story captures nostalgia, creativity, and joy so simply, and it’s inspiring to see how a small rediscovery can refresh both a space and the spirit. Truly charming! 😊

      1. Very true. A friend told me to shop my cupboard first before buying new clothes- I was a bit confused, so she explained that we may have clothes lying in the cupboard that are unstitched or unworn. We must use them first. A great idea.
