Looking forward!

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

If I think about the past I think about bad things that had happened to me. So I think a lot about my future.

Anyway when I wrote this prompt in the past my thoughts always revolved around the food I need to make for my family for lunch, breakfast or dinner! Yes that occupies my mind a lot.

It looks like my husband has started planning a bit for his retirement. So my desktop computer is now just full of retirement articles. As a sincere wife I keep reading those. I don’t know much he reads but the home page articles do make me click one or two!

With my special one, every second of his day needs do be planned. So my plans just involve that particular day.

Special Olympics basketball begins today. My husband has promised he would be doing that activity with my son and I am going to be on the sidelines completely! I am enthusiastic about being on the sidelines. I do know he would become competitive once my young man enters the court. Hey, it is just skills competition but that really pushes him 😊!

Yes looking ahead for a good first work week ahead in the year 2026! Going to take some time to get used to the number 26!

  2. This is such a warm and relatable reflection. I love how it weaves everyday life, family care, and personal observation with a sense of humor and honesty. The mix of practical routines—meals, retirement planning, special events—with genuine enthusiasm for small joys, like cheering on your son, makes the piece feel alive and heartfelt. It captures the balance of thinking ahead while staying present, and your voice shines through with authenticity and gentle energy.

  3. As a special needs caregiver, definitely a forward facing person more than a rear facing. Often with optimism mixed in with some caution and worry. Here’s hoping for a good 2026!
