The weekend turned out to be more than I wanted it to be! It was hectic and fun.
We have been pushing our young man to walk fast so that he can make a mile under twenty minutes. He did it this weekend. Can he repeat the fear on Thursday? Time alone can tell.

My younger son recommended a state park in West Virginia. Thanks to federal government shutdown, I started looking for state parks. This our fourth one. Just an hour’s drive and was beautiful. A very well maintained state forest/park. Unlike Pennsylvania, the visitor center was open and the bathrooms were clean. I usually do not buy a souvenir in a state park but was truly impressed by the trails and the amenities.

It was a mile walk to the scenic overlook. Yes, a beautiful gorge and an interesting river called the cheat river.
West Virginia is Almost Heaven and we did have cake and coffee at the Almost Heaven Coffee and desserts Shop.

Every coffee cup had a “Be Kind” word written on it’s sleeve. They wanted to hashtag with share your kindness.

Yes, the weekend ended not only sweet but on a kind note.
