  1. Getting a new dress.
  2. Mom and grandma making a new kind of sweet or savory

  4. Friends and family dropping with sweets to wish us all.
  5. Heavy monsoon rains and even a cyclone warning hampering the celebrations
  6. Doordarshan having special Diwali program. The one and only state run Television.
  7. Finished off the celebrations with a legiyam or a spice mix ayurvedic medicine to help in digestion.
  8. Childhood Memories of Deepavali.

I think many who grew up in the 70s 80s and even 90s India can resonate with me.

  2. What a warm and nostalgic reflection — your words beautifully capture the true spirit of Deepavali from a time when simplicity held such magic. ✨🎆

Each line feels like a scene from a cherished memory — the joy of a new dress, the comforting aromas of sweets and savories made by loving hands, and the excitement of fathers bargaining for the best fireworks. You’ve painted a vivid portrait of a family and community coming alive with laughter, togetherness, and light, even amid monsoon rains and power cuts.
