I started a Navaratri series last Saturday night. So this is my fifth day and three days of Navaratri has been done. I am doing good. I have some birds today. In fact I have a lot of birds in my display but when I took a picture these few just came into my angle.

The birds on a stand belonged to my grandmother. Yes my paternal grandmother about whom I often talk about. On a trip to India one year, I asked her if I can take them and she said “yes”. These were her favorites. There are around 25 to 30 of these small birds which she had purchased at Varanasi. She used to remember her trip to Varanasi by saying, the then Prime Minister of India passed away during their visit and all the chaos that followed their trip. So I checked and it was May of 1964. So these birds are more than 60 years old.
Then those other two regular birds I just purchased at a craft store called A C Moore. The chain store looks like was closed in 2019. But I got these way before that. Maybe beginning of the 21st century 🙂 or I should say 2000.
Then the two green glass parrots have a wonderful story. We visited an alligator park at Myrtle beach. They allowed my young man in for free. They said special needs people get a free entry. The saved dollars soon got converted into green pareots at the gift shop.
I have no idea how many people are enjoying my memories but this Navaratri I am enjoying writing about my dolls. It is just like looking back at a family album with old pictures. Your brain gets a happiness looking at it. Isn’t festivities and celebrations all about it? Just taking a break from every day mundane life.
