This year my Golu or display doesn’t have any theme. On Thursday when I got all my boxes up from the basement I just looked around and smiled at myself. My first display in the year 1998 just had my son’s toys. I never imagined I could or would continue and take it to this level. My husband kept asking me if I was overwhelmed. Yes I was but my adrenaline was pumping and I should say my husband’s too a bit as he made my dinner that night 😊! This is my passion. A hobby that I enjoy doing every year. I don’t need a theme. I look around and start placing the dolls and they seem to find a spot. They are my happiness and they come to live all ten days.
Every doll has a story. Yes there is a story behind how and why I purchased it or how it was gifted to me.
So the next two weeks, I hope to blog about my dolls and I hope you all can enjoy them. By the way, I will not be posting my entire display until the last day. Ha, not a secret but just to give it a finale.
This year we have 11 days of Navaratri and it begins a day before on Amavasya or New Moon day. I hope to continously blog for almost 12 days and I have my own dolls as my prompt. So no need to go searching for one. Also with a hectic schedule I can blog without a break.

Doll story for today: The tiny band ladies are trying to rest on Athivaradar.
Athivaradar is a deity in a temple in Kanchipuram India. This idol is immersed in a lake and comes out once every forty years. This happened in the year 2019. Many people visited this once in a lifetime event. Me on my part instead of going to be in person just got the doll for 100 dollars 😊. It was a highly demanded doll that year.
Now the little tiny ladies must be more than 40 years old. I remember my grandfather getting it on the first day of Navaratri as a set of 10 or 12. When I got it from my mom nearly a decade ago, there were six of them. i lost one last year and the ladies all are wobbly this year. Yet they found their place near Athi Varadar. I was walking with them trying to find a spot when my young man asked me to put it down and make his dinner. My eyes met Athi Varadar and for the next two weeks they are going to be together.
That is it for today. Another set of dolls and another story for you all tomorrow.
