Acclimated to new way of celebrating

Another festival we in the US are celebrating before people in India. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in India tomorrow or should I say on Wednesday whereas we here doing it today, Tuesday.

It is a holiday in India and no it is not a holiday in this part of the world. The temples do the celebrations in the evening here. Another interesting note. Usually we never visited temples on festival days while I was growing up, but now visiting temple has become a part of the ritual. I never drew Ganesha, made one or had a theme learning but kids this generation are learning to make their eco friendly ones.

Yes, things have changed a lot as time changes but celebrations continue. Oldies may say this kind of celebration are wrong but I would say as a middle aged oldie we just need to get acclimated to the new change.

Last year we celebrated in India and memories are fresh.

My Ganesha today, with a new umbrella made by my young man. No we are not getting a new Ganesha but he has been in our family for years so he gets the honors today.

  1. Loved reading this—beautiful how traditions adapt yet the devotion stays the same. Your family Ganesha with the new umbrella sounds so special. Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi! 🙏✨ May Lord Ganesha keep your family free from obstacles and make you all happy.
Is that ‘podi idli’? Or Kozhukattai?

    1. Thanks and wishing you a Happy Ganesha Chaturthi. It is a spicy ammini kozhukattai. My son is not a fan of sweet ones so we made this last year. Hopefully would be making it agaim today.
