Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park

We were in Washington DC last weekend not to visit museums or monuments but to see the starting point of Cheaapeake and Ohio Canal. The tow path ran between Washington DC and Pittsburgh.

We got our National Parks passport book stamped.

Yes, we were not seeing Cherry blossoms but we saw other beautiful trees.

The Potomac river was majestic amd vibrant.

The canal and the locks were interesting. The trail alongside was comfortable. This is now a bike trail and you can bike from Washington DC to Pittsburgh!

The potomac river does become small and my husband said it was because it was an uphill climb for it!

There were some hard trails but we just walked along the towpath for a total of 3.79 miles that day.

It is called the Great Falls and is just a few miles from Washington DC! Never knew such a beauty existed.

This is our second stamp in our passport book the first one being at Friendship Hill. Hopefully we would be visiting more places this spring and summer. Excited about it.
