The rasa vadai, the star today

It is new year for us. The dawn of new beginnings and wishing all those celebrating today a happy new year!

I was asked what we do today? Just like all the cultures pray a bit, cook and eat a ton.

So what was special.

The boring aama vadai. Or the tortoise shaped lentil donut! It is packed with lentils and deep fried yet this is not every one’s favorite! So I decided to soak these in my rasam (tamarind tomato souped filled with spices).

Usually the leftover vadais are soaked. But I took the privilege of soaking earlier. Thanks to my young man we had a busy day in the kitchen!

The most easiest sweet vermicelli kheer
Main course sambhar and aviyal

The rasa vadai is not the main course but I do expect it to be a hit 😀!
