It was Rama Navami today and my thoughts were just going back to my childhood and my grandfather. One day he gave me a Sundara Kandam book, and said if you read it all the problems would be solved 😀! Ha, at that time I did not have any problems huge in my life. But his words stuck with me.

All week, I had tried catching up on Sundara Kandam chanting broadcast on Youtube live from our temple.
Today was the auspicious occasion of Sita Rama Kalyanam or marriage! Apart from Vedic rituals there are other rituals that are fun to watch and enjoy. So we made a trip to the temple in the afternoon. We never do an afternoon visit to the temple with my special one! It is usually crowded but I found a great spot next to some little girls playing . Of course they bought back memories of me playing in the temple wearing the long skirt, turning ourselves around and sitting down as the pleats made the lehanga or skirt or pavadai become a flower!

My young man knew he would get something sweet by the end of it so he patiently immersed himself in his puzzle but he too was a bit surprised the little girls were naughty! Yes, their play did disturb him a little.
The event though religious and spiritual had so many cultural components that made my brain get refreshed for a work week ahead. Is it not what all the festivals are there for? Something to kickstart our brain!
