What do you complain about the most?
It has been nearly 18 years since I attended a marriage in India. When I went to India last time, it was a marriage off season and there weren’t any! I usually complain or throw a pity party to my husband which he didn’t bother about.
But let me tell you how weddings now happen in India! Thanks to social media I have witnessed many virtually.
India’s national integration is showcased in most marriages. South Indian marriages didn’t have Mehendi or Sangeet! But now everyone has it! The lavish spread of varieties of buffet items and of course the traditional banana leaf meal have become a part of this extravaganza!
The jewelry and the rich silk sarees and the matching outfits by the groom and the bride are a feast in their own way!
Unlike American weddings where the guest list is limited everyone is invited!
In fact, my husband suggested we stand outside a wedding hall one day in India and try to get in along with the guests! Yes, you would not be noticed and that is how you can pass as a friend or family and eat good food. Serving food to all during marriage is considered auspicious!
The four or five day extravaganza is also now celebrated as a destination wedding! Oh, I have never been to any but India is now becoming wedding hotspot!
Jaipur and Udaipur I am ready to come and visit you. Just waiting for an invite!
A virtual Indian marriage for you all!

Me trying to catch a glimpse of the bride and groom from inside the car 😀!
Anyhow being positive I may attend a lavish Indian wedding one of these days!
