Caring and love

Can you share a positive example of where you’ve felt loved?

My son finally had a dentist appointment. It was at U Pitt Dental School’s special needs clinic.

We were warmly welcomed by Dr. Muhammed. He introduced as a person from Chennai and told us he knows Tamil! Yes, he was same age as my boy and his parents had moved to US from Chennai just like us. We felt at home! Enjoyed him talking to my boy in Tamil (our language) as a buddy. Appreciate the parents efforts to emphasize the language at home. He told us he used to get angry while learning but it is now helping him! Yes, it was a bit broken but we were comfortable. What more can I ask from a dentist appointment.

Now that he got in after a year, we have finally got into their schedule!

I met two more parents, much older than me with their children there. A dad got his 45 year old son in a wheel chair, he said he had recently lost his wife. He asked for extra tooth brush and paste! The other mom was very helpful and shared a ton of information. I realized I am just entering a phase, I still have a lot to learn about adult special needs community.

When my husband looked at the other dad, he told me, God showed me the job I do is so less. Yes, the dad’s love can’t be compared to anything!

  1. what a heartwarming story. kepler has been going to the same pediatric dentist for most of his life but it may be time to switch him to an adult dentist now that he is 19.
