Travels and why we do!

Think back on your most memorable road trip.

Our road trips started during the pandemic and it has become part of our lives! My boy turns 28 this August and I think at his age, learning happens not in a classroom but out in the community! I remember the HR in my son’s program talking about the funding my son has. It is called home and community based waiver funding. It works both ways. The community knows my boy and my boy gets used to the community.

Okay, that really helped us start going out more and almost every alternative month the past four years we have taken a road trip.

It even eventually helped us make our trip to India and even make some road trips there.

During pandemic we made a road trip to Dallas and I think that is one trip that happened with a lot of planning. Staying in multiple hotel rooms and passing cities, towns and country sides, it was fun. We took one route one way and a different one the return trip back. That way we covered more states! A trip we added a ton of states to our list of states we had visited.

Texarkana

I have some road trips plannned for 2025, so stay tuned to my blog if you are interested to know them! Until it gets executed I do not talk about it! Not want to jinx it too!

Anyhow this is Pongal week. It is a harvest festival for people of Tamil Nadu, India. The fourth day is called Kaanum Pongal or sightseeing. I lived in a city and I remember people from surrounding villages visiting the city with big bags of food. It is the time of the year for a road trip for them! Oh, we didn’t dare to get out of the house that day because of the crowd! But loved watching the crowd at zoo and beach on TV. Here is a link to this year’s celebrations 😀.

Anyway our travel plans involve to places with less crowd! Are we being successful? Nope! It is crowded everywhere. I am happy people are traveling and not glued to their handheld devices!
