Ekadashi fasting

Almost all religions I know about fast one day or another. In fact I respect all who do this religious fasting.

My lifestyle with my boy doesn’t allow any kind of religious fasting. Though I have done intermittent fasting and dieting, religious fasting is tough since we need to be conscious about our prayers too that day.

Ekadashi or the eleventh day of waxing or waning moon, lot of Hindus do fast with prayers to Lord Vishnu. Tomorrow’s Ekadashi is super important and people who do not fast the rest of the other Ekadashis do this fasting on this particular day. The goal being salvation or no re birth..

Lord Krishna calls Himself the month of Marghasheera and the Ekadashi that falls in this particular month is special. January 9th 2025 happens to be Vaikunta Ekadashi.

As a young girl growing up I have attempted to fast with my mom and grandmother. It felt that the food they consumed on that day tasted good. I never questioned why they fasted and have never questioned the authenticity or the scientific reason behind it. I feel that was the faith I had growing up.

I do not know if Ekadashi fasting is in my future but until that time I do know Lord Krishna will be accepting my devotion in form of prayers.
