Scratching off

I really wanted to do Bloganuary but WordPress does not have one this year. So I am returning to my regularly scheduled programming. Which means, I can blog whenever I want and whatever I want.

So, how has the first few days of January been? With all the travels, last week of December, we were all tired and sick. Okay, not to the extent of running to the emergency room, but depleting our Tylenol and Advil resources.

Today, we scratched off the states and national parks that we visited last week/year on our chart. December 2023, I had ordered the scratch off states chart and the National Parks scratch off was a free supplement that we got along with it. They also gave a free scratcher which basically scratched off anything and everything underneath it. But today, my younger one got a quarter and was able to scratch nicely. Zion and Death Valley looked nice on the chart.

Anyhow we returned home to cloudy skies unlike the clear skies in the desert south west. Thanks to my younger one for all the beautiful pictures!

If not for the chart we would have not begun our quest of the national parks. The next park is going to be the Great Smoky Mountains. More than two decades ago, when I just had one kid, a friend asked me if our family was interested in driving with them to these mountains from Boston for fall colors. Even without thinking twice, I said “no”. My boy was super hyper then and sitting in a car was such a hard job for him. Yes, he has come a long way. Now it is time for him to hike these mountains. I am just thinking ahead for spring and summer. Not anytime soon.

The next two months my free time would be spent watching my Brit box shows.

  3. Such a shame. We I wonder if the word is copywriter. I would do one if you set something up. I used to do them always while away on holidays

  4. Happy New Year! What a beautiful sunset.

I was wondering how the Bloganuary was going this year and was just scrolling The Reader to see who has posted. I hadn’t planned to participate this round, but hearing now how it was cancelled is a bit of a surprise, plus I don’t recall receiving a notice.

Though I think each passing year seems to be met with less community interest ever since the original dedicated web page was nixed with the big move from Classic WP to Gutenberg and leadership on that front changed. Too bad.

Glad you can make your own prompts if you so chose, that will be creative!
