I have been watching videos of an Orthodox Jewish Mom. I love to learn about all the other cultures and I thought her videos were decent. Her kids are not exposed to Santa and her eldest one said she doesn’t believe in Santa but would respect others who believe in. I loved the girl’s answer!
Anyway, I grew up and got married into a very Orthodox Hindu household! Being a vegetarian is a part of our lives but more orthodox people do not consume onion and garlic!
Me and my husband lived in hostels prior to our marriage and ate so much outside food. We were able to eat vegetarian food but avoiding onion and garlic was not possible!
After marriage, my husband slowly started reducing his onion and garlic intake and my household did become a no onion and no garlic zone! Yes, we do not buy garlic and my onion usage is very restricted!
If you think it was a religious decision by my husband, he just says, he does not like the smell and it had nothing to do with him being orthodox!
Anyhow my boy made it a point that I used onions in my cooking today and that is what we did for breakfast and snack. In fact he saw to it, the food was spicy too with a lot of red chilly powder! My house does smell different on days I use onion 😁! I have to accept my husband’s point! By the way my husband did eat the snack my son made today. He tasted it!

Food can also classified into saatvik, rajasic and tamasic! Anyhow the above does not qualify itself as saatvik, something that is healthy😊!
It is really hard to follow orthodox religious values in this day and age. I appreciate anyone who is following the same. As I say, we follow so much autistic rituals that some days I feel we have been converted!
