Patience is a virtue

What positive events have taken place in your life over the past year?

The prompt told me I had already answered this one! Almost same time this year, I wrote a blog saying, my boy did the Christmas 5k challenge.

I had already written about the best thing that happened to me this year was our trip to India. Anyhow I need to reflect deeper since it was not an easy trip.

After 6 years, 2023 we took our boy on an airplane. We made two trips locally to see how we can manage. Since 2020, we had made multiple road trips and I think that laid the foundation for him able to sit for a long time.

We had to find a sweet spot on the calendar to see when airports are not crowded. When we made our transit stop in London, it was almost empty near security. All TSA are well versed in my son’s complex autism. I should say I am grateful for that.

Once in India, we did not plan on taking him anywhere except to one Temple on top of a hillock. We used our boy’s weakness to good food and used it to our favor! We gave him an amazing breakfast that he was so happy to do anything for us.

So for all the positive events to take place, we had to meticulously plan the trip which was years in making. But let me tell you, it has given us so much confidence in ourselves and our boy.

I have learnt patience leads to good results. 2024 taught me that.

Anyway, my boy continues to do Special Olympics. He now does basketball too.

What about me. I wet my foot in coursera courses. I enjoyed it so much.My learning would continue hopefully in 2025 too!

The temperature in India was nearly 100 degrees. Me and my husband had a tough time walking without our slippers inside the temple. My boy did the same with no complaints and with ease. Just to show, positivity helps.

By the way, 2024 is not over yet! Maybe more positive events may happen! Keeping fingers crossed 🤞😃!
