Stay at home parent

What alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be a stay at home mom. My son’s disability forced me to have no other option.

When my son graduated school, I was employed as his aide and that is what I have been doing now for the past six years.

Both paths were not the ones I chose. I had studied business/insurance and it has nothing to do with what I am doing now. But I now respect a dad or a mom who choose to stay at home. I respect other aides who choose to take care of special needs people.

The downside being the loss of income. The world that is driven by money. It is really hard to stay home amd watch other people spend money while you are just being commented by general population that stay at home moms just sit gossip and watch shows.

Anyway I am all for women going to workforce. But I would love if they are respected when they take a break. In that case a man can take a break too when the kids are toddlers. (The number of doctor visits the initial 7 years is one too many). Maybe support them when they try to get back into work force.

Today morning my husband rushed to keep the trash outside. (Forgetting means, you need to wait another week). Home economics and management is huge. It is sad it not given proper recognition!

Anyway a shout out to all stay at home parents.

  1. I feel this 💯

I just recently got back into the workforce and I miss the flexibility of being able to stay at home with the kids.

Kudos to you for being there for your child! Having a special needs child can take a toll. I hope you are getting the rest & help that you deserve!
