It is monotonous! Today morning I was talking to my mom saying with an autistic person with OCD life is monotonous. Being a caregiver, means certain things need to happen like clockwork. But I do try to spice up things up and that is what I did today.

Last month, in India my final piece of shopping was getting different kinds of appalams. It is made of black gram lentils, dried in the sun. It can be stored in boxes and deep fried whenever you feel like having crisp muchies. Okay, I got six different varieties and my aunt who came to visit me got me two more.
So, today for lunch I opened every package and fried one of each just to enjoy all the flavors and varieties. Yes, the usual blackgram being substituted with tapioca, rice or jackfruit. Usually it is not spicy but couple of them had the green or red chilly spice in them!
The three of us shared the eight varieties and enjoyed along with a hot rasam saadam π (rice and tamarind soup). The norm being just one or two varieties would be made but to get out of the monotonous day I spiced up my lunch with eight varieties .
I always tell people visiting a restaurant you do not get the local flavor. You need to visit a home in that city or town or village to eat authentic local food. So here is I present something that would not be available in any Indian restaurant! Yes samosas and gulabjamuns alone are not Indian food π!
