Being on Social Media

This week, I saw a posting on social media. Being famous on social media is like having monopoly money.

I have been teaching my son to cook. The one thing I do is take pictures or videos of the same and post them on his social media page. I have been struggling to make a decision as to whether I need to start a page exclusively and get monetary benefits out of it. It seems YouTubers do earn a lot of money.

But when I saw the above post, it made me realize the truth. Yes, there are YouTubers who make a lot of money, but it is a lot of work. It is not my cup of tea. I am not a business woman. I enjoy posting the videos, and the likes or comments I get really motivate me. But I realized I was going to draw my line there. The time I spend making or editing these videos can be spent more on teaching my son or learning something new.

Social media is a great platform for advertising for people doing business, as it catches the attention of people. But for me, it is a platform to connect with people we are not able to meet in person.

I did see a video of a young adult who sold his mom’s jewelry to buy equipment so he could start his own YouTube channel. I sincerely hope he does get his money back on his investment.

Just thinking out loud: Thank God it is Friday!
