When I was in my elementary school, I was introduced to President Lincoln through a text book lesson called why Abe Lincoln grew a beard. Did you know a little girl sent a letter saying he would looked good if he had a beard? After moving to the US, I read lot of anecdotes about President Lincoln and his abolition of slavery was something that impressed me. Every summer we traveled for my son’s birthday and that was when one summer we decided to go to Gettysburg. This is one of the famous civil war battle field site and a place where he gave his famous speech.

I quizzed my husband and my younger one in the car what was I going to write in “G” yesterday and both did not remember anything. I told them it was Gettysburg and Galveston. Yes, both were trips a bit behind memory lane and nothing significant. Both trips were made because I wanted to visit them. On a trip to Dallas, I decided I wanted to drive to Galveston, the southern tip of the country to see the Gulf of Mexico. But when we reached there, it was a winter evening and it was a cold and windy. I think we just had dinner at Galveston and as I looked into pictures, there were not many. My younger one had his school iPad with him that time and he was taking pictures with it. I think his iPad crashed and he lost all the pictures. As we talked we remembered these tiny details. We also remembered about a burger joint called Whataburger. The milk shake was so big, my special one did not make any of his stimmy voice and went into silence.

Then my younger one shouted why not Getgo for G. And of course my husband said Giant Eagle for G. Okay, what are these, Giant Eagle the grocery chain and Getgo their gas station. I really had to laugh out loud. The theme for this challenge was the places I travel and both made sense. We collect points when we grocery shop, use them at Getgo gas stations and fill up our cars for our travel. Traveling requires planning and saving money for it is a big part of it.

So for the A to Z challenge

G is for Gettysburg, Galveston, Giant Eagle Grocery Shop and Getgo Gas Station.
