Declutter

Where can you reduce clutter in your life?

Bloganuary Day 16

I have written a lot about clutter in my house. My laptop has crashed and I am unable to search for those posts or link them and I have to type from my phone and I am unable to do anything! Maybe my laptop needs to be decluttered? 😀

Anyhow yesterday my husband suggested we pay Google and get that extra storage! Finally, all the music that I have on my phone can be stored and saved! Most of my class recordings were on my phone and I had so many issues with my phone last week that I had to re install and everything disappeared. I have been requesting people to send me all the music again. Then again, I have cloud storage too and it is also almost full with pictures and that needs to be decluttered.

Then my entire house a work in progress with me decluttering all the time! With quarter century marriage you do get to accumulate a lot of things. Some are sentimental and some are like maybe it is necessary! You don’t need the envelopes the passports areived after renewing them a year back! That is how cluttering starts. But I do not throw away my husband’s and he doesn’t mine.

But few months back, I did throw a box full of papers. My special boy started to write only when he was around 10. It was a huge milestone and every bit and piece I had saved! But the sentiments are over. He can now type and he still practices writing. All his work of practicing the fine motor skills are now helping him to cook, clean and do craft work. So I decided to recycle the entire box and that is when I found this paper clipping.

More than twenty years ago!

More than two decades ago my special boy’s school had an ice skating program and he was part of it. The class teacher, his one on one aide and his physical therapist along with his class mates are shown. As I looked at the picture memories flashed back and I am really indebted to this team. My son was not an easy kid. His aide took care of him as her own since she too had a special boy. His class teacher worked with him one on one for her Masters and ABA program and tried to help us in all the ways possible. This was the same team who got me a huge gift basket when I had my second baby. Yes, he was with the same class for nearly five years until we moved to a town home.

I had to put this picture on my fridge. Not to show that my boy could ice skate but to remember these people. I do not have any contact with any of them but they all will remain in our hearts. These are things I do not want to declutter!

Decluttering is fun by the way, you get extra space and it is therapeutic! You may end up getting a gem like mine in the process as I did!

  2. I always keep these items physically, clippings and photos and even cds, since I don’t trust that they will be safe and available forever online, and the artifacts themselves have the energy of the time they were made–and yes, my house has SO MUCH clutter as a result! ahahaha!

      1. It is indeed. I always have fantasies of nicely-stored things on shelves etc., but it doesn’t truly happen–
