Today morning our family did the Pittsburgh Turkey Trot! Funds raised help the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank!
It was a 5km or 3.1 mile racing/walking aound North Pittsburgh and enjoying the City of Bridges! It’s been a while since we did this as a family and first big one after the pandemic so I was really excited!
The temperature was just around freezing and with the crowd it was not bad! We all had multiple layers of clothing but what I loved more was to look around for the various different costumes 😀!

Races are for fun, but I tried to be a bit competitive! My younger one’s 5 miler started half hour late and he was running! My goal was to finish before him (walking 😂) and take a picture! I did it! He was so pissed! What more than to irritate a teenager!
This is how we spent our Thanksgiving day morning! We don’t eat turkey but we had a big meal yesterday night and plenty of leftovers to come to eat!
So on this thanksgiving day we are definitely thankful for our health to be able to participate even if the weather is cold! We are thankful my special one has started doing long distance walking as a sport for Special Olympics and that is something he can work on!
These races are not cheap and participating in them you need to create a stamina to work towards it! I am glad we are able to do it not only financially but also able to work for it! My Fitbit watch that I purchased six years ago is my best friend. It is not a fancy one, but it helps me stay active and I am really thankful for that technology.
I wrote a blog saying I want to do a 10km walk for 2024! Thanks to my husband we parked our car too far from the event and my watch says I have already done 10km today😃! 2024, I am all set and ready for a new set of challenge!
