Photography

Today afternoon I finished setting up everything for my Navaratri Golu. We even had our first guests today evening.

Last year, I had some constructive criticisms about the way my pictures came out of my display. So, this year me and my husband put in some extra efforts to fix the same. Videos do come good and in person viewing is the best, but come to pictures, they do not look well.

Photography is a separate art. Now everyone who has a phone with a camera and we all became photographers and videographers overnight.

My son has put in nearly six hours to make some stuffed animals for the display and has worked on puzzles and art work and I want them to be properly shown to the world through pictures. So, that is one of the reasons we decided to put in the extra work.

Anyhow after a long evening, as I sit and write this blog, I realized nothing matters more than the fun I had making the dolls with him, buying new ones and arranging the same.

So tomorrow I would be taking pictures and videos and getting my entry ready for the competitions I submit.

Anyhow, here is a picture taken by our friend who came in today. This is one of the new dolls I purchased this year. It depicts Seetha receiving the signet ring from Lord Hanuman. I have two shlokas, or verses from Valmiki Ramayana’s Sundara Kandam. Valmiki Ramayanam is called the Aadi KAvyam or the first poetry. One, described Seetha as seen by Hanuman for the first time in Asoka Grove and the other the expression of Seetha as she saw her husband’s ring.

It is indeed fortunate that I was able to buy a doll depicting the same scenery without compromising the features of our favorite Hanuman or Seetha. In fact, when I got this doll I felt like a child looking at her favorite character in a book. I hope everyone enjoys the doll as I did.

The rest of my Golu, will be a single blog and that will happen only when I finish taking proper pictures. But every doll in my display has a story attached to it. But this one is going to be my all time favorite.

  1. Best of luck. The organizers of competition should give credit for the thematic display of dolls like depicting scenes from great epics

My dad used to tell few significant parts from Ramayana and Maha bharata almost daily once the power goes off in my childhood.. He expresses it so well.
