An accident for FSS#115

After the accident, Nelson never felt safe again. That is what he thought, that he was a goner! He was ashamed. Then he remembered the events after that and how he started to feel good safe again.

That fateful night, he was running a temperature of 102 and woke up fully could wet on his bed. He was seven years old! Potty accidents do not happen at his age!! He walked to his parents room in the middle of the night. Mom was so nice that she changed the sheets and bed cover and gave him medicine. She told him she would take him to the doctor as soon as the office opens in the morning and slept next to him.

Seven year old Nelson walked into to his pediatrician office in search of an answer as to why the accident happened. The nurse then gave him a small cup and asked him to pee in it. Nelson went into the bathroom and with the help of his Mom collected his pee. He felt even more ashamed but he was still running a temperature and his hands were a bit shaking.

A few minutes later, his pediatrician knocked on the door and came inside. He told Nelson he had an urinary tract infection and that was the reason he had the accident and prescribed him antibiotics. He told him, the medicine would make him much better and that he would not have any more accidents.

Mom slept in Nelson’s room for the next few days. Nelson recovered fast as he diligently followed doctor’s order of drinking plenty of fluid. He was not a fan of cranberry juice, yet he drank it along with the full course of antibiotics.

By the end of the week, the fever went away and he did not have any more accidents. It took a few days more for him to be away from his Mom. The day he slept alone without his Mom and not wetting his bed, he considered a victory over his infection. He now drinks plenty of water and keeps himself hydrated and even recommends his friends to drink. Getting sick was not an option for him anymore.
