How do you relax?
We humans have evolved so fast the past few years. Our cell phones bring the world to us. There are apps and videos that teach you how to relax. In fact a WordPress prompt asked what brings me peace. I wrote a blog and you can check it out here. I think today’s prompt is something similar. But I had a great experience tonight and I thought I should share it.
Every morning I call my Mom, I have my morning coffee, the same time it is their afternoon coffee time. I discuss the snack she made for the coffee, drool about it and hear her complaints, her activities of the day, and of course her plan for the evening. I have a list with me too, and we sometimes just say there is nothing more for today and continue with our work. Ok, today, casually she mentioned that she and my Dad started watching a 1960s Tamil movie Anbe Vaa. A very famous movie in color and she said both of them lost interest watching the same after 15 minutes. A blockbuster movie of their era didn’t have them relaxed and did not even get their attention.
Fast forward, it is late evening for me, my husband was browsing YouTube and surprisingly he switched on a comedy track of a movie called Server Sundaram made in 1960s. I joined him and enjoyed the piece when YouTube suggested Anbe vaa comedy track. The same movie my parents had just walked away. I was also surprised to learn my husband had never seen the movie and we started watching the comedy track. I could remember my childhood days and the time we as a family saw the same on Television one Sunday night. I remembered my Grandfather more in my mind as I laughed for some of the scenes and I was even forgetting my special boy whom I could hear running around upstairs (and totally forgot about him). In a time period of twenty to twenty five minutes the entire movie had been edited and was so well presented that I got full satisfaction. But my husband on the other hand had slept sitting next to me and I didn’t even realize it.
This is a classic case of relaxation. Forgetting something and enjoying the present moment. My boy in his own world without my control enjoyed himself, my husband had a quick nap and relaxed. whereas me enjoyed and relaxed to a abridged movie classic. Something so opposite to what my parents experienced.
Yesterday, I wrote about emotions. I said, I wanted the roller coaster to end and it happened on it’s own with me watching the snippet. I was really amused by my experience today.
WordPress is providing with prompts that are so close, but I am really having fun time approaching the same with different experiences. If you have not checked up on my other blogs, I have links to two of them, peace and emotions. Click on those words and you can read all about it!
Anyhow thanks all for stopping by!
