Old is gold for WDYS #201

With heavy heart Sam inserted the cassette. He was giving away his car and dropping it off. It has become more of a liability. Not only was it difficult to maintain, he had decided to go green and get an electric car. The one thing his electric car didn’t have was a cassette player. What a shame! He had so many collections. The physical touch of a cassette cannot be replaced by streaming audio. For the last time he drove listening to his favorite music. He handed the keys to the dealer and he picked the box of cassettes from the trunk and walked to his electric car. Looking at his wife he asked, “Where is our tiny boom box?” She opened the back seat and showed him a boom box. “I know how feel about your tapes, so I purchased this one online.” Smiling he got into the new car and drove home to hear some beats.

I remember having to give our Toyota Camry away (a very bad accident) and I picked up all the cassettes that was lying inside before handing over the keys. Yes, we did get a new car (not an electric one), but that did not have a cassette player. Somethings the new generation does not know about.

  1. Very touching story Ganga. Yes the joy to listening to a self recorded cassette is something this generation won’t know. Thanks for joining in.
