Act of Kindness

Write about a random act of kindness you’ve done for someone.

I think I am going to use this opportunity to request people to be considerate when they see an adult or a grown boy with autism with his Mother in a ladies bathroom. Recently a 15 year old autistic boy and his Mom were asked to leave a movie because the Mom took her boy to a ladies bathroom. I have been in this situation and people have questioned me harshly but I had explained to them my son’s disability. But now I send him into men’s bathroom and men are more considerate. But I need to wait outside.

The act of potty training non verbal children is not easy and then comes the part of teaching them cleanliness. The day my son showed us a picture of potty was a big milestone achievement. We had potty accidents until the age of 13 or 14. There are parents who are still not lucky. Life as such is so hard. It would be nice if special needs parents are looked upon with compassion in public places.

Here is the link about the parent who was sent out of the movies.

So to answer today’s WordPress prompt I (the special needs community) need more random act of kindness from the public.

When my son was three, his preschool started his potty training schedule and he was asked to pick out the bathroom picture. It looks easy for a normal human being, but unless you are there it is not an easy task. My son can still lock himself in a public bathroom when he is overloaded with noise. Does that mean we have to lock ourselves inside the house. No, we have not done that. We have taught him to be outside more and that he need to come out after sometime. He is being trained, likewise I hope the publictoo gets trained.

I do not ask anyone to share my blog but I hope this get shared and more awareness is created.

  2. Even if a child isn’t autistic, it doesn’t bother me if a boy is in the bathroom with his mother. There could be so many reasons we don’t know about. She could be a single parent and cautious that she doesn’t want her child alone while she is using the bathroom.
And if a mom is changing her kid’s clothes or diapers I always turn my head to give them privacy. It doesn’t take much to be considerate to others.

I understand that a boy might be in the ladies room with his Mom for good reason and I am considerate and don’t question. Some people are just rude and don’t try to understand. I am sorry if anyone made you feel bad😞

    1. Yes No Mom wants to go with her adult boy inside a bathroom and people forget that completely. But I rarely do that now. Thanks for being considerate Kim❤️.
