Surgeries

Have you ever had surgery? What for?

My mother hood began with a C Section. I had my first boy, my special one in India. I was so scared after the fact that I got all the help from my Mom and Grandmothers. I moved to US when my boy was four months and that was the first time I lifted anything heavy. As soon as I was sent off I had to forget that I had a surgery and had to become independent. All pampering gone.

When my special one was five years old I gave him his bath and got out of the tub. I slipped and fell on the bathroom floor and I had to have a surgery for a ligament tear. My Dad came from India to help. But I did the cooking and I had hours of physical therapy which I had to manage with my autistic boy and his activities.

When I became pregnant with my second child I wanted to try a normal delivery but my doctors suggested I had to undergo repeated C Section. My parents came just before my baby was born and stayed with me for nearly 6 months. I least bothered about my surgery because my autistic boy had regressed on so many fronts. I was picking up so many pieces of what was happening and I completely forgot about my surgery.

I am glad I had my family support during my surgeries but having a special needs boy adds insult to the injury.

Anyhow touch wood I have been lucky not to have any more surgeries and hoping it would remain like that. 🙂

  2. I’m sorry you had to have c-sections – the recovery can be a lot more challenging.

The only significant surgery I’ve had was a lumpectomy, and even that was day surgery.
