Flocking to Florida

Birds and people migrate to Florida for winter. Then again, people like me can spend a vacation in Florida. If you go online and check for cheap airline tickets, Florida and Las Vegas would the top destinations.

Our first trip to Disney World, Orlando, Florida happened more than 20 years ago. We visited more than we can count theme parks. The adrenaline rush was high and though we are not roller coaster people, my husband suggested we should some, not for the rush but how every ride had a preview before we took the dive. Yes, Disney’s space mountain and splash mountain were wonderful. We didn’t have any special needs pass or privileges at that time or didn’t know about the services.

My special one who loved the tigger then!

Then we did the same trip ten years ago (or more than that?), when my younger one knew what Disney meant and able to understand the characters. But this time, we had no rush and we limited it to just one park and bribed him we would take him to see a rocket launch. Disney had better services for autism people and they gave us special pass and of course we could take inside food and snacks. A decade did make a difference in Autism Awareness!

Much more autism friendly! Special needs people allowed in fromt of parade.
It took me a while to understand the difference between NASA in Houston and in Florida

Last year, after not being on an airplane for many years and a pandemic between we decided to do air travel. Cheap tickets, a comfortable destination and we chose Florida again, but this time no theme parks just the Everglades.

We flew all the way to see an alligator
Watching a cruise ship sail, Miami beach
Supposed to be an expensive yacht, Fort Lauderdale

Then a New Orleans trip was planned for Christmas and we found out the Emerald Beaches of Pensacola was just a few hours drive. This was a Christmas gift to our entire family since we did not plan on going there.

I do not think our Florida trips are going to end any time soon. Most of the cruise ships leaving for great Caribbean and Mexican destinations leave from Florida. So me flocking to Florida would hopefully continue. I am going to say touchwood. I do not want to jinx it.

So for A to Z Challenge in April

F is for Florida

Theme being the travel I have made.

A to Z Challenge takes a day off on Sunday and resumes with the letter G on Monday. Thanks to all who have stopped by this week and it has been great looking back at my memories. Life is not easy with a special one and the challenges are many but we can create our own fun and that is what we have done. Yes, playing with the cards I have. If you have missed on any please click the letters.

  2. Wonderful memories. I adore that pelican. I haven’t been to Florida – perhaps one day.

    1. That pelican demanded free food or the fish bait from the people fishing and it needed to be shooed away! But it was cute 😊!
