Peace for WDYS #225

Patrick was relaxing in his chair watching the sun set down near the pier. He was just surprised to see the birds fly in a pattern.

He had lived a decent life as a High School Math teacher and middle school soccer coach. His wife had died in an accident a long time back. Finding another life partner did not happen and he didn’t care about it much. He loved all the kids he taught as his own and the middle school kids he coached were his life long friends.

But as years rolled, he wanted to retire near a beach and take the break from routine and start a new chapter in his life and just live in peace.

As he was thinking he heard a gun shot and was able to see a figure running away from the beach. It followed a scream and Patrick without any thought process was running towards the beach. Little did he know the peace he thought was his next chapter of his life was just going to be a chapter filled with unrest, turmoil and chaos.

The birds maybe did showcase themselves symbolically to Patrick and he did miss that cue!

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a waterfront, in the background, the sun is setting and you can see a huge flock of birds in formation ( murmuration).

*********************************

Murmuration: Birds gather in murmuration for a variety of reasons. Grouping together offers safety in numbers as predators like peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in amongst a hypnotizing flock of thousands
