My special one hits the ball and runs towards the first base but misses it and is off to the fence. A crowd cheers him and later makes a home run. But this is all accepted and the game ends in a draw. This is the Miracle League of South Hills. A place everyone is accepted with open arms and the community as a whole participates and encourages. This game is learning, a skill but not baseball but accepting and living together as a community.
Now the story in pictures 😊.

The opening day had cheerleaders from our local school as the players made the march amidst applauses from the audience. The buddies are school children from the local and surrounding school districts and coaches are from our community.

We have real time announcers and score board. We are competitive but everyone is encouraged.

Every player has a buddy and everyone is in the field and to bat. We played two games this week, one on Sunday and one on Thursday and the weather was perfect both days for a ball game.

Of course there is a friendly handshake at the end of the game.
Pictures missed were the National Anthem and the next inning concession stand run by volunteers and special people. Maybe in my next blog would add them.

The clubhouse adjacent to the field has been designed for wheel chairs and is a sensory friendly playground. Kudos to the Miracle League for maintaining them so good.
Nothing can top two happy games for my boy (touch wood, no meltdowns this week) so sharing this for small joys and happiness for Natalie’s Weekend Coffee Share.
