Intermittent Fasting and Eating out 😊

Second week of intermittent fasting done. We are 12 hours fasting from 6 pm to 6 am. Me and my husband are targeting a healthy lifestyle and this seems to be a good approach. The past two years I have gone on a diet and had lost significant weight which I want to maintain. So it takes care of that too.

It was a hectic work week and we waited for Saturday to eat out. The plan was executed in a way we ate out for lunch since we didn’t want to dump ourselves with outside food around 5 pm. This way we could have a light dinner at home.

Pittsburgh does not have great Indian restaurants. New Jersey and Dallas are the place to eat good Indian food (my personal experience). We had to go to the Temple, so we stopped by a vegetarian restaurant nearby for lunch. Indian food is spicy and oily. So choosing what to eat makes us a wise person.

My kids ordered deep fried appetizers but I went out with idli and sambhar (steam rice cakes immersed in lentil soup).

The same rice batter made as pancake with spicy chutney spread inside turns into Andhra spicy dosa which was my main course. This has more oil content than idli but better than fried items. The sides were again sambhar and coconut chutney.

There were days I used to order Channa Batura. The deep fried big wheat bread, with chick peas for a side dish. The calorie loaded dish was my favorite druing my pre dieting days. My younger one ordered this one as I just watched. In fact I didn’t crave for it.( I didn’t order for my special boy since he was fine with dosa). I have to give myself credit for being sucha a good girl😊for not ordering this one.

My parents celebrated their 51st Engagement day today. I conveyed this to my family and wanted to treat myself to this falooda. (You need a reason to eat sweet right😂)?? Okay it turned out both my husband and my special boy wanted to share that happiness with me. So a dessert shared three ways is always fine.😊

Yesterday bloggers were discussing A to Z challenge and I really thought I should join in April. But this fasting challenge is the only thing I am taking up for the next few months. I can’t add anymore to the plate. I will be enjoying all the other bloggers work. Anyhow I am blogging using other bloggers prompts and happy with myself. Maybe I will join next year with a theme FASTING and DIETING 😊.

Thanks for joining me this week.

For Natalie’s weekend coffee share.

  3. Good luck fasting! It looks like you are enjoying a variety of food when you do eat. I chuckled at your comment, “I can’t add anything else to my plate!” Have a great week.

  4. Twenty five years go (Gosh, has it been that long?), as a grad student, I visited Pittsburg and ate at a place called Dosa Hut. I wonder if it still exists.

    1. I don’t think so! There is a dosa hut near Ganesha Temple in NyCity.
