Bloganuary 2023, Day 6, Writing!

During the month of January I am writing for prompts provided by WordPress. So today’s prompt is

Why do you write?

This one is easy. I started to blog because I wanted to do something for myself. I started this blog three years ago before the pandemic, but last January when I did Bloganuary Challenge I found out it caused me so much of happiness and I was so regular in doing that. It showed the other side of me, the one who was normal in so many ways. The year end post I did last year reflected how much self satisfaction I derived by blogging.

At a time, when I could enter midlife crisis I have channeled myself into something positive. I never was not an introvert person growing up. I was a people person. I was not shy and can get along with anyone. But my world became very small or too small with my son’s diagnosis and I found out happiness when I found social media. I had started posting pictures and writing on my facebook page and I found I could connect with people without leaving my home (the comfort place for my special boy). So I thought blogging maybe another way of me connecting with the world.

My Dad used to say, I talk non stop. I do not give opportunity for him to talk back. That is how I am according to him. So yes, writing is one way of expressing myself without getting that comment.

Chapter 4 of Bhagavad Gita, talks about different forms of Yoga. Yoga is not limited to sitting and doing a few stretches. Anything that is done with discipline is Yoga. Without my knowledge the past year I have been writing with a discipline. It has helped me immensely. So I conclude saying writing is now a Yoga for me.

  1. I’m glad you have found happiness with writing. I have as well. And I love yoga, but I’d never thought of it that way. Pretty cool.

  2. I was reading on some message board some time ago about meditation and a person there kept referring to meditation as yoga and I never understood it. I knew there were different types of meditation, but I didn’t know one that was yoga meditation. When you wrote, “Yoga is not limited to sitting and doing a few stretches. Anything that is done with discipline is Yoga.” it made sense.

  3. I appreciate your what you write. I have enjoyed the social connection with blogging this past year. I have only been blogging for a little over a year. Thank you for sharing. I did not know that about Yoga, as being discipline.

    1. Anything done with discipline is yoga. My Mom says even cooking for our family is yoga.
